Working in Global Virtual Teams

Working in global virtual teams poses some additional challenges to team members. Communication is mainly limited to channels such as email, chat and telephone. In addition to this there is the fact that the team members come from different cultural backgrounds and thus in some cases have divergent views on how tasks should be handled and on what constitutes a good working relationship. How do I deal with deadlines? How do I clear up any misunderstandings? When is it necessary to communicate and what needs to be said?

In order to work more effectively in an international context, it is important to interpret the behaviour of other team members correctly and in some cases to adjust one’s own conduct to accommodate possible cultural differences.

In this training the participants learn how it is possible – despite distance, different cultural backgrounds and media-based communication – to build trust, a close working relationship and commitment.
